Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a style of yoga codified and popularized by K. Pattabhi Jois during the 20th century which is often promoted as a modern-day form of classical Indian yoga.

You'll be guided through a modified sequence based on the Primary Series sequence of postures practiced and taught by the late K. Pattabhi Jois at a slower pace, and with some instruction and demonstration.

Generally we will cover the first half of the Primary Series sequence before enjoying a very well deserved relaxation but may sometimes explore the trickier postures if time and energy allow.

Ashtanga Yoga combines a series of traditional yoga postures that you’ll probably recognise with fluid movements and a focus on breathing regularly and deeply. It’s a physically demanding sequence designed to create heat and maximise energy flow, improve flexibility, strengthen the body, increase circulation and get the heart and lungs working too.

Healing and balancing the physical body like this helps bring about good health and vitality, a clear mind and a calm approach to life’s daily obstacles.

This class is suitable for those with some experience of yoga but new to Ashtanga, for those with some Ashtanga experience who enjoy more instruction or for beginners with a good level of fitness and who are willing to give it a go!
