Vinyasa is a style of Yoga with an emphasis on breathing and healthy alignment in the poses. Moving at a faster tempo, this class builds stamina and strength while developing grace and ?exibility. This class allows those with a regular practice to experience a more intense Vinyasa Yoga and introduces more challenging poses. Expect sun salutations, strong balancing poses, hip openers along with inversion and arm balance preparation. Our aim is to be able to move into and out of each asana with balance, a quiet mind and a firm connection to the earth, as well as actively seeking the relationship between movement and breath. By turning up the intensity, we can explore the place where our breath, mind and movement come together.
As with all my classes there will be many poses that will help counter the negative habits of modern life along with poses that aid sporting performance.
This challenging class is suitable if you have a regular Vinyasa practice or are physically capable through regular sporting practice. Numerous modifications will be offered to make the class as accessible as possible.
Balance is your ability to control your body without movement against gravity. Stability is your ability to control your body during movement. For the next four weeks Thursday nights will be focused on improving balance and stability. From the tiny muscles in your feet and ankles to the largest muscles in your quads and glutes, we will work each muscle helping you to be more confident and controlled in your yoga practice.
These classes can be joined separately or you can come along to all four. As always the classes are suitable to those with a bit of yoga experience under their belt but please feel free to come along and have a go.
If you are unsure whether this is the right class for you, please feel free to get in contact with me. Richard Wallace
